Velvet Summer marks Red Velvet’s first full-group release in approximately two years and two months, following Cosmic in June 2024. Across five tracks, the album revisits the group’s established summer identity through a softer and more mature atmosphere, combining refreshing sounds with dreamy vocals, romance, friendship, nostalgia, and quiet comfort.

The title track “Surfin’ Boy” introduces this deeper summer mood through a relaxed blend of bossa nova, reggae, and house. The remaining tracks expand the album’s seasonal palette, moving from the confident energy of a summer-night drive to cinematic romance, memories of a meaningful connection, and the freedom of temporarily leaving everyday worries behind.
