JUN (SEVENTEEN) China 1st EP – 9 was released on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11 AM KST, featuring the title track “9.”

9 explores the emotions that emerge through relationships and the process of changing as those feelings are experienced and accepted. JUN participated in the lyrics, expressing emotions ranging from curiosity and excitement to expectation, jealousy, doubt, boredom, and forgiveness in his own words.

The album takes inspiration from the Chinese folk legend of the nine-lived cat spirit (九命猫妖), in which a cat gains nine tails through repeated cultivation and ultimately reaches immortality. As each new tail represents another stage of growth, the album follows its protagonist through unfamiliar emotions and toward new versions of the self. The number 9 also connects with the Chinese character 久, associated with longevity, reinforcing the idea that facing the emotions created through relationships can become part of personal growth.

1. 360 (Feat. Mabelz PiXXiE)

“360” combines Jersey club rhythms and electronic sounds to portray the curiosity and innocent excitement of first realizing an attraction to someone. Like the moon orbiting Earth, the song describes hesitating to approach directly while remaining unable to escape the pull drawing two people toward each other.

2. 月背 / YueBei

“月背 / YueBei” compares an elusive person to the unseen shadow on the far side of the moon, capturing the feeling of being unable to fully grasp someone who remains indistinct.

3. I See You

“I See You” is a hyperpop track built around heavily distorted Auto-Tune and powerful glitch sounds, portraying emotional overload and rapidly escalating thoughts. The song expresses the confidence that when two people finally meet each other’s gaze, they can see each other clearly and move forward together despite the noise around them.

4. Dexire

“Dexire,” a variation of the word “Desire,” represents an inner longing that continues to spread and grow alongside incomplete emotions. The track features narration by Tracey Zhao.

5. 寻途 (Inward)

“寻途 (Inward)” is a dark alternative pop track driven by experimental synthesizers and powerful downbeat drums. Its distorted textures and explosive energy reflect obsession and hatred, while the lyrics arrive at the realization that although searching for answers in life may feel like navigating a maze, the confusion and turmoil ultimately exist within the self.

“4give” plays on the word “forgive” while using the number 4 to represent passing through four songs and four stages of growth.

7. 9 (Title Track)

“9” captures the moment of finally choosing to face one’s true feelings after enduring repeated trials and difficult turns. Built around downbeat rhythms, bass, and an addictive pop melody, the track gradually expands its layers of sound to portray a journey toward becoming whole.
